Miguel was raised on the 100th block of 12th avenue where he spent most of his time playing basketball at the legendary 10th park. Graduating valedictorian at Washington Elementary, Miguel was raised by a mother & grandmother who placed academics first. Miguel attended high school at Walther Lutheran High School (Now Walther Christian Academy) in Melrose Park where he continued to make strong scholastic and athletic strides.

Miguel graduated in the top 20% of his class while achieving a varsity letter in three sports, including All State honors in Track & Field.

Miguel obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting at the College of Business at Illinois State University. Committed to community involvement and advocacy, Miguel held several leadership roles including chapter President of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated: Eta Tau chapter and serving as Vice President of the National Association of Black Accountants.

Miguel started his political career after being appointed by Mayor Edwenna Perkins to the Maywood Planning & Zoning Board of Appeals in 2018. Miguel Jones ran in his first municipal election in 2019 and won a seat as Maywood Village Trustee. As an elected official, Trustee Miguel Jones serves as Finance Chair on the Finance, Accountability & Government Transparency committee. As Finance Chair, Trustee Miguel Jones advocates for fiscally responsible, timely budget process, updated financial and TIF audits.

Miguel is an accountant & award-winning professional with over 15 years of corporate accounting/finance experience.

Miguel is a current homeowner and proud father of one son, Machai Jones.

    Tour De Proviso

    Co-founded a community bike ride called Tour De Proviso with Mayor Katrina Thompson that brings 1000+ to the Proviso Township to promote health & wellness as well as improved infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists. The bike ride is in its 6th year.

  • Community celebration at the renovated Conner Heise Park basketball court

    Glenn “Doc” Rivers Family Basketball Court

    Created & initiated the "Glenn "Doc" Rivers Family Basketball Court” renovation at Conner Heise Park in Maywood that redeveloped a cornerstone park & recreation space on Washington Blvd in Maywood, IL that had not been updated in 30+ years.

  • Walther Christian Academy Board of Education

    Treasurer for Walther Christian Academy Board of Education for his Alma Mater Walther Christian Academy in Melrose Park, Illinois.

    Established the "Twin Village Covenant" with neighboring community River Forest in response to the George Floyd murder to promote heightened community engagement & equity practices amongst diverse Villages.
